BOPP films are biaxial oriented polypropylene films. After the extrusion through a flat-sheet die the films are oriented many times over within a stretching line in order to get increased strength and transparency (amongst others). As the tensile strength is also increased, BOPP films are e.g. used for tear strips of packaging boxes. Another important characteristic of BOPP films is the excellent shrinkage, therefore they are used for packing goods free from creases.
