Stork Plastics Machinery B.V., execellent revisions. Stork Plastics Machinery (SPM) designes, manufactures and sells injection moulding machines since 1965. Worldwide several thousands of Stork machines have been installed. Often customers want to trade in their old Stork machine, when buying their next new Stork machine. Stork sells these machines again to other customers. Many times a used Stork machine was the start of a healthy relationship with a new customer. Knowing this, our Stork machines are often not "just sold". The market asks for overhauls on these used machines and, furthermore requests that we equip them with new options and special wishes. In parallel to this, a lot of customers do not want to sell their machines, but want us to overhaul their machines after years of intensive use and give their machine a new second life. In 1996, SPM investigated the possibility to start up a new activity to fulfil these demands. SPM has all the knowledge of Stork machines, the specification of the machines is fully known and the specific know-how of engineering, production and service is available. Due to the fact that the overhaul of a machine is completely different from building a new machine, it was decided to establish a new product group within SPM. Before starting with the overhaul, there will be an extensive consultation with the customer about, for example, the scope of the overhaul and warranty terms. The scope of overhaul can vary a lot. It could be an overhaul of a complete machine or an overhaul of just a part of the machine. Besides that, customers ask us to implement new options as well as an update of the software. To minimise the loss of production, SPM carries-out the overhaul as fast as possible. Under normal circumstances, the machine will be out of production for no longer than 3 weeks. The overhaul and quality check will be carried out by our experienced engineers. The quality of the overhauled machines will be fully according to the SPM quality standards. If, after a machine has been re-commissioned, a service back up is needed, this service will be carried out by SPM on the same level as for new machines. Our Service department uses the same advanced systems for product configuration and spare part inventory control as for new machines. SPM has the core competence directly available and can, therefore react very quickly if a customer wants to have his machine overhauled. A Stork injection moulding machine, which has been overhauled by the Overhaul department will be in an "as good as new" shape and is again capable to produce for many years.
